Sumner-Redcliffs Anglican Church (SumRed Church) is a local church with a desire to be relevant to needs of, and connected into, our community. We are a local church made up of local people with a clear desire to see the message of Jesus made real and meaningful for people of every age and stage of life.

We are a part of the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch/Ōtautahi based out of two churches - Nayland St Chapel and St Andrew's Redcliffs - with our office based in Sumner at Nayland St Chapel.
As an Anglican church, we stand within a historic Christian tradition shaped by Scripture, prayer, sacraments, and the shared life of the Church across centuries and around the world. Our worship and teaching draw on this rich heritage. We value sung worship, clear Biblical teaching, and a communal church life centred around Jesus.
We've been blessed with a vibrant children and youth ministry and have a number of adults across every life-stage who call our church home. That's why we're committed to actively partnering with God in bringing faith to life across all generations.
This means we seek to disciple, worship, and serve in a way that helps the whole church flourish regardless of age and stage. Everything we do, from children’s and youth ministries to prayer gatherings, discipleship crews, and Sunday services, is part of our mission to help people know Christ and live out their faith in daily life.

While our daily mission is to bring faith to life for every age and stage, our vision of who and what we aspire to be involves being a visible, vibrant, community following the way of Jesus in the heart of our neighbourhood.
For us, being visible means we're present and relevant to the needs of our community. People, regardless of their spiritual orientation, know we're here and why.
Being vibrant means we're full of life! Kids, babies, youth, and mess are welcome here + there's always lots going on.
Meanwhile, our emphasis on community is really important for us because we aspire to a church famous for how we love and care for one another. Because our faith shapes how we love our neighbours, care for others, and contribute positively to the place where we live.
And finally, we believe that following the alternative way of Jesus is the best thing anyone can do with their life - individually and communally. We strive to live out the outrageously challenging teachings of Jesus.
At our heart, we are a church family learning to follow Jesus together and to see faith lived out in practical and lasting ways across every generation.
